Albany Chapter Celebrations

Around the fire

The sky was gloomy and the forecast for the state was only promising for ducks and farmers waiting to put in their crops,
but the weather did put out a few fires lit that week by Dept Environment and Conservation, so not all was going to be lost.

The unruly mob

The weekend was to be the celebrations of Albany becoming a stand alone Chapter, we hoped that it wouldn’t be washed away.
After all, a full four days of planning had taken place after an intense one-hour meeting! Feedback was that about thirty members
of other Chapters were to attend and we hoped they would have good weather to leave Perth in.
Once on the road they would continue to Albany. When they got here it didn’t matter, they would be our captives of the rain.

We arranged more firewood than before, - to help with the big defrost of the frozen riders, the fires were lit.
We needed to keep them warm as they had grizzled about the cold last year. The mighty throng of intrepid frozen riders arrived just after three pm.

Fitters and turners

As it turned out, the evening was quite dry with no wind so someone was looking out for us.
The fires still provided warmth that is hard to beat and provided the focal point for social intercourse (I missed out?)

After arrival and gidday’s with a few cold drinks by the diehards and several hot drinks by the intelligent ones, a quick meeting
was conducted by the Albany crew. This also gave opportunity to discuss one or two state matters with other Chapters.
Soon after, the BBQ’s were fired as was the gas patio heater and dinner was served. Steak, Sausages, Onions and salads, plenty for all.

The night degenerated from there as the amber juice flowed. Conversation jumped from a variety of subjects depending on who held
the floor in each circle of biker delinquents. As the night wore on it separated the stayers and the sleepers.
In the early hours, the quiet was only broken by the sound of sleep, that being the dulsal tones emanating from the throats and noses
of Furbag, Surly and Chappo.

Family was welcome

Morning broke, in fact, nearly everything was broke. That was until breakfast was cooked, eggs, bacon, and the urn was on for coffee and tea.
Soon it was time to saddle up and down she came, not only wind and rain but hail storms as well. At least the bike seats were dry,
bikes having been stored in the fire shed overnight.

That’s it in a nutshell. We down here hope that you up there enjoyed yourselves, we did.
Next time we have a function it’ll be in summer. We do appreciate you all having come down practically given the weather.
Thanks from all of the Albany mob.

The way to a man’s heart!
