Albany's Christmas Poker Run

The 20th November 2010 turned out to be a fine, to hot day, ideal for a burn up on the bike. The run was a fundraiser for the Salvation Army Xmas Appeal, a plot thought up by Jimmy with the assistance of Trev.
These two blokes orchestrated the whole affair, the route, and beneficiary and did most of the work to make our first fundraiser a huge success. They deserve a big “Congratulations”. We had lots of help from our supporters (read wives) on the day in manning the packs of cards and scribing, thanks girls. Members and businesses around town donated vouchers and prizes for a series of raffles run thru the day. A big thanks to those sponsors and members.
The route taken was about 160 km long. Starting at 10am and with the stops for dealing the cards saw the run finish at the Millbrook tavern at 1pm. On arrival at the tavern Ewen and Patrick from the Salvos had the BBQ burning for a sausage sizzle, which by this time of the day was welcome, as were the beers bought from the bar.
Seventy bikes with about seventy-six persons joined the event with riders from Vintage and Classic Club, HOG, Ulysses, along with lots of individual riders joined Patriots from the Metro South West and Albany for the run. The greatest surprise was five riders from Esperance that came across to get bikes serviced and joined in the run. Great to meet these blokes and we hope to see them again! We also handed out a couple of nomination forms and enrolled a new nom on the day.
Once again, thank you to all those sponsors, riders and our brothers from other Patriot Chapters who made the trip down.
