About Patriots Australia
The Patriots are a motorcycle club for regular, reserve and former members of the Australian Defence Force.
Patriots Australia was established in 1993 to cater for motorcycle enthusiasts unable to join an established club because of constant postings, travel and moves interstate.
The Club has grown in leaps and bounds. We now have a chapter or sub-chapter in each state of Australia and in New Zealand. We also have Patriot friends in the United Kingdom who provide the same warm welcome to members worldwide.
So that we all have the chance to meet and contribute to our Club, we hold our National AGM in a different state each year. This also gives us a chance to meet fellow Patriots from around Australia and New Zealand.
The Australian and New Zealand Chapters are both run in strict accordance within the Department of Defence guidelines on equity discrimination. We do not allow drugs or violence and we support the non-sexist policy promoted by the Department of Defence.
We are a family oriented club and welcome the family of our members to our functions.
The Badge
Our 'Badge' is to denote our love of the three services and those who died fighting for our country.
We do NOT wear a 'back patch'; we are purely an organisation that loves motorcycles, and enjoys the camaraderie of other service personnel and consider ourselves a Military Motorcycle Social Club.
We are not a paramilitary organisation, we have no political leanings, we are the "Patriots". We have served and are serving.
Our 'Badge' shows the three services in our own particular style; the skull is for the members who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country.
The colours denote, Red for the Blood spilt by members defending our country and its Flag. The Black Beret a common colour for each service and the colour of mourning for those members who have died. White for the peace members have fought for, and won.
Our Purpose
- To provide an organisation dedicated to members and their families with a common interest in motorcycles.
- To have members throughout the state and country, to provide a social camaraderie for current serving and ex-serving members of the Defence Force.
- To generate interest between members of the club in providing support, both physical and financial, to charitable organisations.
Ethos
The Australian and New Zealand Chapters both run in strict accordance with the Defence Department guidelines.
We do not tolerate drugs, violence or theft.
We believe in the non-sexist policy promoted by the Defence Department.
We are a family oriented Club and as such invite serving and ex-serving members to happily bring along their families to our functions. Within the Club we have ex Korea, Malaya– Borneo, Vietnam, Somalia, Gulf, Afghanistan and Timor Veterans, but this is not a prerequisite for membership.
Full Membership is open to all serving and ex-serving Military personnel, and to others who have a direct bond with the Military as Supporters. Full Membership is granted to persons who have served or are serving in the Military (this includes reserve service). They must provide written proof of such service and have a clear criminal record. Full Members must also be in possession of a motorcycle of any make and of 250cc or above.
Male or Female; if you have done the Military time, have the appropriate motorbike and licence, then you have the right to apply to be a Full Member.
